Step 2: Opening the Banana Barn.com's Online Shop

When you click on the "Open Shop" button, you are taken to an interactive "virtual shop". Unlike the windows of real shops, this page at first simply displays the name of the business, Banana Barn, followed by an apparently empty rectangle. The shopping cart applet, which is the program containing all you want to know about the available items, appears on your screen in about 30 seconds. The time varies depending on the line speed.

After the Shopping Cart has been downoladed, waiting times are over. Instead of walking along the aisles, all you have to do is pull down the Department list, pick the items you want to buy and order online - no hassles, no driving, no pushing trolleys or carrying heavy bags back home!

All you need to know is there on your screen: products, prices, your current shopping list and several "live" buttons that allow you to perform different tasks: fill in your trolley, access the Help page, and place your order. In the following pages, we'll describe in detail how to use the shopping cart's features.
